Children's Sunday School

Sunday mornings, 10:25 - 11:05 am

St. Peter’s offers a rich, Bible-based curriculum for children ages three through fifth grade. Using God’s word as our textbook, each class has its own unique way of engaging children in the Bible. We encourage children to bring their Bibles to class each week.

Sunday School is offered between our morning services, from 10:25-11:05 am. During the recessional hymn at the 9am service, children are invited to follow the crucifer to the back of the church and proceed down the back staircase directly to their classrooms. Families who attend the 11:15 am service should have children in their classrooms by 10:25 am.

Our Sunday school teachers are devoted to the spiritual growth of your children.  However, we believe that Sunday school is just the beginning of a conversation about God and our Anglican beliefs that should continue throughout the week at home.  Parents will be guided and encouraged to participate in their child’s formation both.

St. Peter's shield - small Class Descriptions

Ages 3-4: Praising God through Music and Stories

This class encourages children to build their “spiritual muscles” as they learn Bible truths through songs, Bible stories, and crafts.

Kindergarten: Godly Play

This class uses an interactive telling of biblical stories to engage children in the Word of God.

First Grade: One Family of Faith, Children’s Catechumenate

Our “One Family of Faith” class is a process by which our children learn all about being part of God’s Christian Family, the Body of Christ. We achieve this by focusing on the traditions of Anglican worship, Holy Baptism, the Holy Eucharist, the Biblical basis behind our liturgical worship, exploration of worship spaces, various Liturgical ministries and the importance of Christian mission. The year culminates with a Festal Eucharist.

We will welcome older children (2nd-5th grades), who have not yet experienced “One Family of Faith.” into the existing class, starting January 5, 2014, (Epiphany), as we start our exploration of the traditions of our Anglican worship, liturgical spaces, vessels, & ministries, and learn all about the Holy Eucharist. These children will also participate in the Festal Eucharist. Contact: Carol Long to enroll your child or if you have questions.

2nd Grade: Bible Basics

This class is where children learn how to navigate the Bible. Children will learn the books of the Bible through drills, memorization of key verses, and craft projects.

3rd Grade: Warriors of the World

This class bases its lessons around “the armor of God” from the book of Ephesians, and will look at various Bible stories in light of wearing God’s armor. Children will learn how to go into the world with a strong sense of faith as ambassadors of Christ.

4th Grade: Discipleship and Missions

This class combines Bible study with mission work, so that the children experience firsthand God’s truths as they go out to serve Him.

5th Grade: Following the Liturgy

This class will follow the readings for the next week. Class discussion and teacher facilitation will train them to adopt a more mature study of God’s Word plus provide a great basis for receiving the Word and the sermon each week.
